These terms explain how you may use the Compass Cargo website and what to expect when you contact us about courier, freight forwarding and transport services. A confirmed quotation, booking confirmation or service-specific transport terms may contain additional conditions for a particular shipment.

1. Using this website

This website is provided for general information and for making enquiries about transport and logistics services. You may view, print or save reasonable extracts for your own business or personal use. You must not copy, republish, sell, frame or misuse the website, its content, branding or images without our written permission.

You agree not to use the website to submit unlawful, harmful, misleading or malicious material, or to interfere with its security or operation. We aim to keep information accurate and current, but website content is not a promise that a particular service, route, vehicle or delivery time will always be available.

2. Quotes and bookings

A request for a quote is an enquiry, not a binding booking. We prepare quotations using the information supplied about the collection, delivery, cargo, access, timing and service required. A quote becomes effective only when the agreed service is confirmed by Compass Cargo in writing.

Customers must provide complete and accurate information. If the shipment, access conditions, dimensions, weight, handling requirements or route changes, the price and service plan may need to be reviewed before collection. Any estimated time is subject to traffic, weather, border controls, carrier schedules, loading delays and other events outside our reasonable control.

Unless a written quotation says otherwise, the terms for the confirmed service will cover the agreed scope, price, collection and delivery arrangements, documentation, cancellation and any applicable liability or insurance limits.

3. Customer responsibilities

Before collection, the customer must:

  • describe the cargo accurately, including its weight, dimensions, value and any special handling needs;
  • use suitable packaging and make sure the goods are ready, accessible and safe to load;
  • tell us about fragile, restricted, dangerous or temperature-sensitive goods before booking;
  • provide accurate collection and delivery addresses, contact details, access information and required paperwork; and
  • obtain any permissions, customs information or site arrangements needed for the shipment.

We may decline or pause a collection where the goods or conditions present an unreasonable safety, legal or operational risk, or where the shipment differs materially from the agreed booking.

4. Charges, delays and changes

The price and payment timing will be stated in the quotation or booking confirmation. Additional charges may apply where the agreed scope changes or where waiting time, redelivery, storage, tolls, parking, access restrictions, customs requirements or other third-party costs are incurred. We will explain material changes as soon as reasonably possible.

If you need to cancel or change a booking, contact us promptly. The effect on price and availability will depend on how close the request is to collection and on costs already committed to carriers, ports, airlines or other suppliers.

5. Carriers, insurance and liability

We may use trusted carriers, agents, shipping lines, airlines and other service partners where appropriate. The transport arrangements and any service-specific terms will identify the relevant responsibilities and limits for the shipment.

Customers should tell us if they need a particular insurance arrangement or have a high-value, fragile or unusual consignment. Unless expressly agreed in writing, nothing on this website is a promise that every loss, delay or damage risk is covered by a particular insurance policy.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Any applicable contractual limitation will be set out transparently in the relevant booking or transport terms.

6. Intellectual property and links

Compass Cargo or its licensors own the website content, design, logos, text, photographs and other materials unless stated otherwise. Third-party links are provided for convenience; we do not control or endorse the content of external websites and are not responsible for their availability or policies.

7. Changes and governing law

We may update these website terms when our services, website or legal obligations change. The version published on this page applies to website use from its stated update date. A specific written booking or transport agreement may take priority for that shipment.

These website terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights or protections that apply to a customer.

This page is general information and is not a substitute for legal advice. Please ask us to clarify any booking term before confirming a shipment.
